Altus Public Schools is saying goodbye to a recent back-school Bulldog tradition favoring a more accommodating way to recognize student-athletes and extra-curricular participants. This year student groups of all ages will be invited to Altus High School athletic events and will be recognized on the field/court during home games. Like collegiate events, students will be announced during breaks in quarters/periods. Altus High School pep rallies will also feature various student groups throughout the year.
“With fall sports schedules, not all fall-student athletes were able to participate and Oklahoma weather was cause for cancellation in recent years. We hope that more student groups can be included in the new recognition program and we can continue this new approach into the Winter and Spring seasons,” stated AHS Athletic Director Dusty Davis.
The first home football game is scheduled for Friday, September 6th against Elk City. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
